This will cover the cost of all kitchen appliances big and small, from your fridge to your water purifier to your mixie. Add on items such as a washing machine for laundry or a vacuum cleaner for chores, and this figure is bumped up to about Rs. 35,000, and thats not including your home entertainment technology.Everybody seeks high quality when shopping for these kinds of items but when we are investing in our homes, it can help to shop around and find the best prices on home appliances. Below are a few tips and tricks that may help you f ind the best deals on essentials for your house.1. Check prices in a few different shops It always pays to shop around a bit and doing so may help you spend a few thousand bucks less in the end. Price comparison websites like Idealo compare prices online in a wide range of shops and will let you see where the best deals can be found at a glance. It is often the case that the best prices on home appliances are available in smaller online shops rather than from the big sellers.2. Is the previous model cheaper? Many large producers of fridges, stoves and washing machines release products in a range or a series. The newest model is usually the most expensive, understandably, but in many cases, there is very little difference in quality and features between the newest edition and an older version. Shopping online lets you get a quick overview of the products in a particular series and weigh them up against each other. Opting for a model that has been on the market for a year or more, o r maybe even one in a different colour, may mean you spend less on a new appliance.READHow Paytm Is Helping People In Combating The Hurdles Caused By Demonetization?3. Measure your space when shopping online for home appliances, it is a good idea to double check the dimensions of any large product you are considering purchasing and make sure that you have the space for it. There is nothing more annoying than receiving a new product via online delivery only to find it does not fit and has to be returned and exchanged. This will cost extra time and in some cases, money.4. Check for extra features the little features that are built into various household appliances can be very helpful on a practical level in the day to day life. A washing machine that lets you add an item mid-wash, for instance, or a water purifier with a particularly large reservoir can help make daily life a little more convenient. Such factors may not mean you spend less, but they will mean you get better value fo r money!5. Consider your needs there is no point in buying a 5 KG washing machine with a low price tag if you live in a large household with 6 or more persons. In this case, it is essential to go for a 7-10 KG model, even if it means shelling out on a product that is not the cheapest on the market. Being practical about and researching the kind of appliance that will work best in your home will pay off and make sure that your hard earned bucks are well spent.

Bank of Montrial Analysis - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 2 Words: 648 Downloads: 4 Date added: 2017/09/23 Category Advertising Essay Type Argumentative essay Did you like this example? Running head: CASE STUDY ANALYSIS Introduction The root problem of Bank of Montreal was how they could focus each and every employee on the success of the company. BMO needed to meet the needs of the 4 shareholders: BMO shareholders, customers, employees, and communities. Case Questions Identify the strengths and weaknesses of a balanced scorecard approach to performance appraisal? The first strength of the BSC approach is a focus on the company’s strategic direction. A BSC approach helps management communicate the companys mission by linking performance measures to its mission and strategy. The balance scoreboard not only gives you a better idea of your workforce, but also creates better customer service for the customers involved. The balanced scorecard makes the CEOs of these companies make sure that their businesses are running accurately and if it is not, it will reflect in their pay. Thus, a good balanced scorecard identifies many cause-and-effect relationship s within the business and helps employees and managers appreciate the roles of employee and task as well as the importance of each result to the overall corporate effort. The balanced scorecard method is a form of checks and balances for a company to ensure that the needs of all four shareholders are met. Although there are many strengths to the balanced scorecard method, there are a few weaknesses. First, the balanced scorecard method might be too broad to truly judge performance. I believe that if a company deliberately tries to collect and report certain data measures then their report will most likely achieve good results. Second, I feel that BMO’s balanced scorecard puts too much emphasis on the company internally. I think that BMO should first focus on their SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) externally and then set internal performance measures that coincide with those goals. Question 2: Do you think it’s fair to base the bon us paid to BMO’s CEO on the four indexes comprising the firm’s balanced scorecard? Yes, I believe that it is fair to base the bonuses paid to the CEO on the four indexes on the balanced scorecard. If the firm had a high rating at the end of the year it meant that the company had met and accomplished the four goals. This also means the CEO did a great job of communicating his or her values down the corporate ladder. Therefore, the CEO should be rewarded on his performance. A firm is only as good as its worst employee. When BMO received a high rating it shows that the CEO demonstrated strong managerial and communication skills. Lastly, this initiative will force company CEO’s to become more involved in all the aspects of the company. The balanced scorecard makes the CEOs of these companies make sure that their business are running accurately and if it is not, it will reflect in their pay. Question 3: Do you believe that a balanced scorecard approach would be more effective for the administrative or for the developmental purposes of appraisal discussed in this chapter? First, I believe that a balanced scorecard approach is effective for both the administration and for developmental purposes of appraisal. On the other hand, the balanced scorecard approach seems to be more effective for the developmental purposes of appraisal. Identifying needs and concerns the firm’s employees far outweighs the administrative purposes. The appraisal process provides managers and employees with the opportunity to discuss ways to build on their strengths, eliminate potential weaknesses, identify problems, and set new goals for achieving high performance. (Book) This is important because it is more focused on the whole firm rather on broad aspects of it. I believe that a successful company works from the ground up. Therefore, if all the employees start to improve then the whole company will improve. Examination of Mrs Wright in Trifles by Susan Glaspell Essay

Examination of Mrs Wright in Trifles by Susan Glaspell The play ?Trifles?, by Susan Glaspell , is an examination of the different levels of early 1900?s mid-western farming society?s attitudes towards women and equality. The obvious theme in this story is men discounting women?s intelligence and their ability to play a man?s role, as detectives, in the story. A less apparent theme is the empathy the women in the plot find for each other. Looking at the play from this perspective we see a distinct set of characters, a plot, and a final act of sacrifice. The three main characters, Mrs. Peters, the Sheriff?s wife, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Wright are all products of an oppressive society which denies them their right to think and†¦show more content†¦about her preserves.?(1172), he tries to clean his hands but has trouble finding a clean rag. Men?s hands aren?t always as clean as they might be.?(1172) A few line?s later she comment?s on Mr. Wright and what Mrs. Wright?s relationship and life must have been like, ?But I don?t think a place?d be any cheerfuller for John Wright?s being in it.?(1172) As the ladies examine the house, while the men are other places, picking clothes and an apron up for Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Hale gains sympathy for her until finally she starts to take action. When they find the block of quilting that has stitching askew, she starts to fix it, perhaps to cover for Mrs. Wright?s distraught state of mind. While Mrs. Hale is finding sympathy for Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Peters offers a counterpoint that tries to justifies the men?s viewpoints and actions. Her comments to Mrs. Hale?s resentful musings on Mrs. Wright?s unhappy life and on the actions of men in regards to women in general all seem to be rote answers programmed into her by society and a desire not to cause any trouble. This all changes as soon as Mrs. Peters finds the bird. Mrs. Peters says ?Somebody ? wrung ? its ? neck.? [Their eyes meet. Analysis Of Andrew Carnegie s The Gospel Of Wealth

Old Money Spoils There are many dangers of leaving great sums of inheritance money to the children of those who accumulated their own fortunes. Andrew Carnegie, a self-made philanthropist millionaire who gave away $350 million and built 2,509 libraries before his death in 1919, sees this as a great problem as well and writes about it in â€Å"The Gospel of Wealth;† along with how he believes that the highest obligation of those who have amassed a great fortune is to return their money to the societies where they made it (Jacobus 481-83). Some of the dangers of handing fortunes directly down to kin instead of donating or investing it back into the community, include generating spoiled children and an unproductive hereditary class whose extreme wealth exacerbates the inequality of wealth throughout the nation. Consequently, leaving children hereditary fortunes not only spoils them, but is also economically inefficient, politically troublesome, socially destructive, environmenta lly caustic, and simply unethical. Carnegie writes a great deal about how individual children are often spoiled and therefore harmed by wealth. He states that one reason estates and wealth is left to children is so that â€Å"the vanity of the parent may be gratified by the thought that his name and title are to descend to succeeding generations unimpaired† (489). There is a need for careful monitoring and planning from the Costco perspective. The business runs of sales of goods that are highly discounted and are sold in packages of a number of pieces to make them more profitable for the buyer and sellers. This makes it important for the company to make the assessment of the ways to understand the motives and the way the consumers are thinking; this requires careful assessment of the customers and their desires and goals. Most people at Costco come to shop for their daily needs and sometimes travel a good distance to make sure that they stock up on their essentials. The company thus makes it a point to create limited time discounts on luxury branded products like Michael Kors bags which are usually high in price but at the Costco sale a seller can get it at a very less price. There is a need for understanding the concept of how Costco works and the need for the assessing of the various works and methods of working within the company. The CEO i s directly linked with how the company works and procures its products. The active participation is surely a deciding factor(DAveni, 2016). The earnings of an average employee at Costco is said to be around% higher than the average income of a similar employee at stores like Wal-Mart and Sams club. Higher wages are also bundled with greater medical benefits for the large number of employees. To compare them we might take into consideration the numerical by the industry, stating that when there are more than 80% of employees at Costco who have medical coverage only half the percentage is under the benefits of medical in Wal-Mart, the most popular competitor of Costco(DeNisi, 2013). There is also the fact of the benefits received by the employees at the time of retirement, and even in that case the retirement benefits of a Costco employee is better. The percentage of employees under the retirement plans in Costco is well above the 90% range whereas only 64% of employees at the competitors are taken under the retirement benefits plans. The pay at the Costco is higher and the benefits are much better than the competitors. But still the company is aiming to work better and achieve more and more benefits and revenue each day. There is much speculation about how the company manages to provide so many benefits to the employees and still be profitable? The secret to the question is the fact that even though the company provides a number of benefits to its employees it takes the no frill way of shopping. The low turnover rates mean lower costs on searching for new employees, lower costs on training new employees and also lower loss of revenue due to employee shortage. The Costco Company is known for its value for money deals and their low cost deals. The flash sales and no frills sales system is one of the reasons why many people love shopping at Costco. Not only the number of people who are shopping at Costco but also the number of people who are working at the stores would be a good example of how the transformational and inspirational leadership has made the Costco a reliable brand and name. The employee s here are less prone to job change; they get better pays as well as health and retirement benefits. This is attributed to the fact that they know that they are important with respect to the company, increasing their motivation to work better. With recent changes in costs the company CEO has made a few changes which have been positively taken in by the employees who are more than happy to work for the Costco. The productivity of the employees is high due to the friendly and easy to work with environment at the Costco stores(India, 2009). The employees are provided training to assist the guests at the store and help them with product choices and purchases. The products are arranged in functional way, without many frills, the store also doubles up as the warehouse saving money. Products are sold off in bulk quantities to make the products sell off quicker. The company also spends a significantly low amount of advertising and branding. There are no celebrities endorsing the brand, nor billboards or advertising agencies making the company save up on the expenses. The company derives its traffic purely through its pleased customers who refer their friends and family. Also die to the employees being more aware about their duties and integrity within the company, employee theft is less and also the productivity of the employees are high, resulting in better sales, better revenues(Mr.Hameed, 2014 ). The CEO of Costco, Mr Jim Sinegal is a transformational leader, and has been hugely successful in the creation of the good atmosphere for work within Costco. The theory of Transformational leadership can be easily studied through the use of Sinegal as the centre point. There are a number of features of the transformational leader, who is someone who believes in working with the people, winning their trust and loyalty and working towards the organisations vision and goals. There is an aspect of change within these leaders who try to get the participation from every employee towards fulfilling one common goal, the need to claim and commit toward the future of the company(Sadeghi, 2012). The Costco is a company that has been in popularity because of the success it has generated even though they are not advertising about their brand or stores and also due to the fact that they are not even employing attractive ways for the people to shop. The most important fact is that the employees are happy and content in their positions and are constantly working towards making Costco a better destination to shop. The CEO is one of the most inspirational figures in the management and is closely associated with his team and all the employees of the company. He takes his position as the CEO very effectively and does make it a point to create a better interpersonal relationship between him and the management. The CEO is responsible for creating a better aspect for the development and growth of the company. In care of a new inauguration of the store, the CEO is present at the e new store providing the new employees with a good feeling about their new skills(Pihie, 2013). AT every store there are meetings every morning to make sure that the employees have provided their inputs and have been reminded of their needful duties for assisting the customers at the store. The inspirational and transformational leader Sinegal provides the best methods for the employees to become attached wit h the company. He has been not taking his raises and has kept his salary only twice of the average Costco company store managers salary, making it a point to visit every store twice year, even when it costs the management a good amount of travelling throughout the country(Givens, 2016). The active participation from the employer gives a better viewpoint about the companys views on the way it treats their employees and also the goals of the company. There is hardly any doubt that the people associated with the company are provided better facilities and wages, but still the company produces better revenues. This is due to the good personnel management system of the company. The CEO believes in inspiring and making sure that the people associated with the company do not feel pressurised to work for the company. Instead, the CEO meets more than thousand Costco managers at the Annual meetings as well as decided the monthly budget with a team of 70 store managers of the Costco. There are regular talks ab out the basic methods to keep cost low and sales high. It is true that active participation from the employees is one of the main reasons why the CEO is always interested in dealing with the store managers(Roesner, 2010). The CEO shares his ideas with the team and asks them about their ideas, which in turn create better understanding of the company and its goals, provides better solutions to the problems of the company and also makes the managers interested in performing well. The various aspects of business and the leadership skills of Sinegal have been profoundly important in the growth of the company. Under the guidance of the CEO the company employees find themselves working for someone who is interested in hearing their ideas and also thinking of incorporating them. Teamwork and virtues are some of the important traits of the workers. Along with good pay and good benefits, the employees find the humble personality of the CEO quite inspiring. The most appraised characteristics o f a transformational leader is to provide a clear vision for the company, and MR Sinegal has provided just that, his vision for the company Costco is straight and no-frills , just like the way he believes his business to be. The company CEO has courage, another important characteristics of the transformational leader ; Costco takes risks, and depends on its team of curators to create an appealing sales and also. The self motivated and passionate characteristics of Sinegal, is shown in his dedication towards being at every new Costco store launch and visiting each store twice a year. The CEO also spends time to listening to the inputs for all matters regarding sales, stocks. As a transformational leader, the CEO of Costco is highly inspiring figure in the minds of the employees, allowing the workers to become better at their own work and acknowledging the effort of the team workers, store managers and workers, and inspiring them to become better workers. The efforts for the manager to be able to guide the employees towards greater success and inspiring them into being better employees and helping the company grow together are some of the reasons why the Costco is a leading brand and has been recording growth in terms of its revenue as well as employee retention. Good leadership and good values have helped the company to be on the path of growth. References DAveni, R. A. (2016). Strategic Management. Northwestern University. DeNisi, A. (2013). HR 2.
